The Mako Shark (genus Isurus), including both the shortfin and longfin varieties, is renowned for its speed, agility, and streamlined body, making it the fastest shark in the ocean. Found in tropical and temperate waters worldwide, mako sharks are powerful hunters, feeding on fish like tuna and mackerel, as well as squid. Their metallic blue coloration and sharp, pointed snout add to their distinct appearance. Known for leaping out of the water when hooked, mako sharks are a favourite among sport fishers. Unfortunately, they face threats from overfishing and are currently classified as endangered.
