Tilefish (Blueline-Grey)
The Blueline/Grey Tilefish (Caulolatilus microps) is a deepwater marine fish characterised by a dull olive-gray coloration on its dorsal side and white ventrally. A distinctive narrow gold stripe underlined in blue extends from the snout to the eye. They inhabit depths ranging from 250 to 800 feet along the continental shelf and slope of the western Atlantic, primarily off the coast of the United States. Their diet consists mainly of bottom-dwelling invertebrates such as crabs, shrimp, and small fish. Blueline Tilefish are known for constructing burrows in soft substrates, where they seek refuge.
