The Sockeye Salmon (Oncorhynchus nerka), also known as red or blueback salmon, is an anadromous species native to the Northern Pacific Ocean and its adjoining river systems. Notable for their striking red coloration during spawning, they typically measure between 60 to 84 cm in length and weigh from 2.3 to 7 kg. Their diet mainly consists of zooplankton, and they undertake extensive migrations to return to their natal freshwater habitats for spawning.
